Curly Smith

Mr. Curly” Curt” Smith age 60, of Hammons Fork, Woolum, KY passed away Tuesday evening , November 23, 2010 at his residence. He was born on May 5, 1950 in Knox County the son of Boone and Mary Smith. He was united in marriage to Floretta Smith. He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and retired from Metal Products of Corbin where he worked for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Boone and Mary Smith, two brothers, Daniel Boone Smith and Jabe Smith, his father and mother in law Anderson and Prudie Smith, five brothers in law, Willie Branstutter, Tom Jordan, Cecil Smith, Leonard Smith & Clovis Bright and three sisters in law Ethel Chadwell, Elsie Smith and Laura Smith.
Survivors include his wife Floretta Smith of Woolum, one son, Gary Smith and wife Chastity of Lily, KY, one daughter Rita Mills and husband Tommy of Girdler, three brothers, Will Smith and wife Elva of Girdler, J.L. Smith and wife Mary Etta of Woolum, Walter Smith and wife Katherine of Woolum, four sisters Lula Smith and husband Bert of Gray, Marie Jordan of Cannon, Edna Branstutter of Barbourville, Lou Ellen Townsley and husband Rev. Clarence Ray of Hinkle, five grandsons, Brent, Jeffery, Patrick, Joseph and David, one special brother in law Gilbert Smith and wife Linda of Barbourville and other brothers in law, Jerry Chadwell and Edward Smith all of Girdler, sisters in law, Bertha Smith of Wolum, Rebecca Smith of Hamilton, Ohio, Susan Gregory and husband Pete of Barbourville, Lily Mae Bright of Illinois, Wilma Smith and husband Wayne of Girdler, Lovella Hampton and husband Donny of Woolum, special friends Jason, Kristie, Kalie and Drew Hale, Billy Ray and Debbie Taylor, Jerry Bargo, Charlie Parks, McKinley Vaughn, Sean Hampton, Cardale Vaughn, Pat and Sharon Mills, Billy and Joannie Mills, Jabe and Jenny Smith and J.M. Hall. Mr. Smith also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Mr. Smith will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday November 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jabe Smith, Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating and Rev. Dewayne Smith performing the committal service. Burial will follow in the Anderson and Prudie Smith Cemetery at Woolum with Tony Smith, Gary Smith, Jeff Abner, Sean Hampton, Billy ray Taylor, Jerry Bargo, Jason hale, Roger Smith and Grandsons serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of Rock Springs Baptist Church, Employee’s of Metal Products of Corbin, Nieces, Nephews, Rev. Owen Smith, Rev. Bart Smith and wife Melissa and Rev. Dewayne Smith and wife Sheila. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

The family will receive friends at Hampton Funeral Home Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
