Mr. Creedy Smith, age 97 of Girdler, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015 in the Knox County Hospital. He was the son of Gilbert and Flora Smith, born to them on June 28, 1917 in Hammons Fork of Knox County. Mr. Smith was an employee of the Reinforced Iron Workers Company and was a deacon at the Southeast Baptist Church. He united in marriage to Florene Smith and to this union, two daughters were born.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Florene Smith: Four Sisters: Lillie Thomas, Carrie Smith, Irene Lee and Shirley Smith; Three brothers: Chris Smith, Leonard Smith and Jay Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his loving daughters: Jewell Drey of Grosse Ile, Michigan: Lucille Smith and husband Jim Ed of Barbourville: One sister: Mae Trosper and husband Bill of Inkster, Michigan: Three brothers: Estill Smith of Garden City, Michigan, Cecil Smith of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Jim Smith also of Garden City, Michigan: Five Grandsons: Doug Cooper and wife Jo Ann, Steve Smith, Bob Cooper, Mike Smith and wife Gina, and Dewayne Cooper: A granddaughter, Sherri Calk and husband Charles: Eight great- granddaughters: Misty Cooper, Holly Smith, Ashley Secter and husband Jake, Jewell, Jade, Dayne, Carol and Jenna Cooper: Three great-grandsons; Brian Cooper, Cory Smith and wife Whitney and Anthony Calk: Three great-great granddaughters: Nevaeh, Kinsley and Bralynn Cooper. He also leaves behind a host of many dear relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Creedy Smith will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Mike Griffith, Rev. Eddie Inman and Rev. Lee Heskett officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery at Girdler with Mr. Smith's grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James West, Rodney Smith and his staff at Daniel Boone Family Healthcare, Mr. Smith's church family at Southeast Baptist Church, Joe Jones, Bob Mayne, Harold Lee, Boone Smith, George R. Smith and all of his special neighbors and friends.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Sunday, May 17, 2015 after 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and on Monday after 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at 1:00 P.M.
