Mrs. Cora Harkless age 85 of Hamden, Ohio, passed away on Saturday-May 10, 2008 in the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio. She was born on March 10, 1923 in Scalf, KY and was the daughter of Clark and Ellen(Campbell) Brown. She was united in marriage to James Marion Harkless. She was a member of the Nazarene Holiness Church and was a member of the National Rifleman Association. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clark & Ellen Brown, her husband James Marion Harkless, one daughter Wavil Adams, one brother Crystal Brown, two sisters Ada Mae Smallwood and Easter Brown and two nephews James and Vernon Smallwood.
Survivors include three sisters, Lizzie Brown and Gracie E. Williams both of Barbourville, KY and Retha Mae Payne and husband Harmon of Flat Lick, KY, and one nephew she raised as her own son Bud Smallwood of Chillicothe, Ohjio. Mrs. Harkless also leaves behind a host of many other nieces, nephews, family and friends to mourn her passing. Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Harkless will be conducted on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alonzo Messer and Rev. Wesley Broughton officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery at Browns Branch with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. The family will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
