Mrs. Cleo Hammons age 90, of Barbourville, KY passed away on Monday - January 16th, 2012 in the Knox County Hospital. She was the widow of Amos Hammons and the daughter of the late Cleveland & Laura (Mills) McKinney of Knox County born to them on May 27th, 1921.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by an infant baby sister Catherine McKinney, and one brother Leamon McKinney.
Cleo believed in the Baptist faith and attended the Northside Baptist Church. She was a former employee of the Knox County Hospital where she was a cook; she enjoyed working later in the Green Thumb Program for seniors for the Housing Authority in Barbourville, where she was an assistant of the director.
Funeral services for Cleo Hammons will be 1:00p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. With the Rev. Denvil Taylor officiating. Pallbearers will be Dennis Messer, Tim Messer, Dennis McKinney, Justin Mills, Jeremy Mills and Henry Mills. Burial will follow in the Patterson Cemetery of Heidrick. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
