Mrs. Cledia Smith age 88 of Flat Lick, KY departed this life on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in the UT Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. She was the daughter of Jim and Bettie (Bargo) Hale and the wife of Bill R. Smith. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of the Hinkle Branch Holiness Church. On November 15, 1947 she united in marriage with Bill R. Smith and to this union ten children were born.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim & Bettie Hale, two sons, Ricky Smith and baby boy Smith, two daughters, Carolyn Smith and Maudie Smith, five brothers, Walter, Amos, Leoines, Clarence and Homer Hale, one sister Daphne Hale and one grandchild.
Left behind to mourn her passing is her loving husband of sixty eight years Bill R. Smith of Flat Lick, three sons, Willis Smith and wife Debbie and of Bimble, KY, Willard Smith of Flat Lick and Bill D. Smith of Rochester Hills, Michigan, three daughters, Roeann Rice and husband Bill of Keavy, KY, Patricia Bargo and husband Linville of Flat Lick and Mildred Reid of Barbourville, two brothers, J.R. Hale and wife Peggy and Earnest Hale all of Newport, KY, three sisters, Katherine Stewart of Texas, Mary Duquet of Michigan and Alice Moore of Barbourville. She also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren along with a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cledia Smith will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tommy Frazier and Rev. Charles Bright officiating. Pallbearers will be family. She will be laid to rest in the Henry Mills Cemetery on Road Fork. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday morning prior to the service at 11:00 a.m.
