Mrs. Cleadie Mills, age 92, of Bimble, Kentucky formerly of Hammond, Kentucky passed away at her home on Friday June 5, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Hudson and Maudie Williamson Cole born to them in Knox County on December 31, 1916.
She was the oldest member of the Mills Missonary Baptist Church. She was an excellent seamstress and gardener and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hudson and Maudie Cole, her husband Charlie Mills who she was united in marriage to on December 23, 1937, three sons, Nevel Mills, Orlan Mills and Rondal Mills, one son-in-Law John Adams Jr., one sister Alta Eagle, four brothers, Jimmy Cole, Homer Cole, Herbert Cole and Lowell Cole, two sisters-in-law, Jewell Cole and Lee Cole and two brothers-in-law Gentry Jordan and Lloyd Mills.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Christine Adams, Barbourville, KY, Mrs. Betty Smith and husband Earl, Barbourville, KY, Mrs. Edith Hampton and husband Troy, Bimble, KY and Mrs. Barbara Earley and husband Dennis of Corbin, KY, one son Glennis Mills, Bimble, KY, five sisters, Mrs. Emma Mills and husband Ford, Independence, KY, Mrs. Marie Jordan, Hamilton, Ohio, Ms. Geneda Gray, Barbourville, KY, Mrs. Doris Favio and husband Bill, Upton California, Mrs. Wilma Jean Withrow and husband Jerry of Four Oaks, North Carolina and one brother, Farris Cole and wife Lavina of Barbourville, KY, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, three daughters-in-Law, Evelyn Mills, Bimble, KY, Lois Mills, Corbin, KY, and Lovella Dugger, Girdler, KY, two sisters-in-law, Leon Cole and Grace Cole, two brothers–in-law, Joe Mills, Jr, Hammond, KY and Ralph Eagle, Hamilton, Ohio. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mills will be conducted on Monday June 8, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Carnes and Rev James Vandy officiating Mrs. Mills will be laid to rest in the Joe Mills Cemetery on Mills Creek. Pallbearers will be Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. West and staff, all her loving care givers and all the Members of the Mills Missionary Baptist Church. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
