On October 9, 2019, Mr. Charles Leonard Barger, age 76, of Girdler, Kentucky passed peacefully into heaven at Christian Care Health Center in Corbin, Kentucky.

He was born on February 13, 1943, to Clarence and Mary Ana Pash Barger in Bellefontaine, Ohio.  On May 28, 1982, he united in marriage to his beloved wife Donna Carty Barger.  To this union was born a beloved daughter, Amber Lily Barger Barnett.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mary Ana Barger, brothers, John, Jim and Tom Barger, and sister Nancy Davis, mother-in-law Lillie Jones Carty and father-in-law Gene Carty.

He leaves behind his loving wife Donna Carty Barger of Girdler, Kentucky, daughter Amber Lily Barnett and husband Zac of Huntsville, Ohio, beloved grandson Wade Charles Barnett of Huntsville, Ohio, brother Gene Barger and wife Margaret of Huntsville, Ohio and sister Connie Barger of Lakeland, Florida, as well as many family and friends.

Charlie served in the Army National Guard from 1961 to 1963, he loved his country, family and church.  Charles was a member of the Indian Lake Baptist Church of Lakeview, Ohio and attended the Locust Grove Baptist Church of Girdler, Kentucky.  He was a meat cutter for 40 years, having worked for Pride of Lima, Kroger and Lovett & Sons Packing House in Ohio.

Charles loved his family and friends, he was an avid horseman, loved dogs, was on a baseball team in Bellefontaine, Ohio and liked to play golf.  He was a CB buff, his handle was Rodeo Cowboy.

A celebration of Charles’ life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend David Barnard and Pastor Ralph Halcomb officiating.  Pallbearers will be Zac Barnett, Michael Barger, Gary Smith, Rodney Smith, Scott Smith and Gary Deaton.  Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Locust Grove Baptist Church and Indian Lake Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the Carty Family Cemetery in Girdler, Kentucky.  Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 4:00 p.m.
