Mr. Charles Ray Murphy, Sr. age 60 of Hinkle, Ky. departed this life on Thursday, November 8, 2007 in the Knox Co. Hospital. He was the husband of Diane (Crawford) Murphy and the son of Willie and Nancy (Payne) Murphy born to them on October 9, 1947 in Knox Co., KY. Mr. Murphy was a member of the Old Flat Lick Baptist Church and had been an auto mechanic until he retired. He is preceded in death by his mother Nancy.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Murphy of Hinkle, his father, Willie Murphy of Dewitt, two sons, Charles Ray Murphy, Jr. of Hinkle and Edward Randall Murphy and wife Joy of Hinkle, a daughter, Melissa D. Mills and friend Randy Forsee of Hinkle, two brothers, Reed Murphy and wife Sharon of Dewitt and Finley Murphy and wife Brenda of Corbin, three sisters, Retha Stewart and husband Earl “Brook” Stewart of Dewitt, Lucy Ann Messer of London and Oda Mae Goldworthy of Hinkle, a very special sister in law Dee Janzen and husband Rodney Of San Antonio, Texas and a special brother in law Daniel Howard of Hinkle, three wonderful grandchildren, Casey, Derek and Alyssa Murphy especially Casey who was the love of his life. Mr. Murphy also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. A memorial service for Mr. Murphy will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 12, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Alonzo Messer officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be all the nurses and staff at the Knox Co. Hospital, Dr. Lohe and staff and Dr. Hasni and staff, Michael Buchanan, Glen Riley, Leonard Henson and Rob Henson. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
