Mr. Cecil Lawrence Broughton age 82 of Barbourville, KY passed away on Thursday – January 01,2009 in the Knox County Hospital. He was the husband of Hazel (Henson) Broughton and the son of Henry Broughton and Ellen Bright Broughton born to them on January 30, 1926. Mr. Broughton was a member of the Coal Port Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ellen Broughton, one brother, Denver Broughton and three sisters, Christine, Lucy and Dorothy.
Left behind to mourn his passing are his wife Hazel of Barbourville, a step son, Billy Cole of Barbourville, two brothers, Oakley Broughton and wife Doris of Louisville and McKinley Broughton of Indiana, one sister, Maris Newman and husband Lewis of Louisville, KY, three step grandchildren, Charley Cole, Holly Cole and Megan Cole. Mr. Broughton also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Broughton will be conducted on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Lawson and Rev. Gene Hubbs officiating. Pallbearers will be Timothy Warfield, Rondal Warfield, Cody Brown, Johnathan Brown, Larry Hobbs and Clester Henson. Mr. Broughton will be laid to rest in the Callebs Creek Cemetery at Hinkle, KY. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements. Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday, January 3, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 3:00 p.m.
