Mr. Carlson Smith, age 74, of Bimble, Kentucky passed away Friday , November 16,2012 in the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin. Carlson was a Deacon in the Baptist Church for 30 years and also a Sunday school teacher for many years. He was the husband of Stella Smith and the father of Johnny Smith and his wife Rebecca of Flat Lick and Carlson Smith Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Bimble. Carlson is also survived by two brothers Melvin Smith and his wife Eller and Reece Smith and his wife Sudie Rella all of Hinkle, three sisters Ernestine Collins and husband Joseph of Hinkle, Irene Jackson and her husband Fred of Girdler, and Ilene Hubbard and her husband James of Hinkle, two grandchildren Kayla and Miranda Lee, two step grandsons Justin and Josh. Carlson is also survived by two brothers in laws Frank Smith and Floyd Messer. Carlson also leaves behind to mourn his passing one step son and one step daughter and 3 step grandsons and 2 step granddaughters.
Carlson was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Nola Smith of Clay County. He was also preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children Willa Lee Jackson Smith and 3 sisters Erma Lee Smith, Leona Messer, and Elva Jean Smith.
Funeral services for Carlson Smith will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2012 in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Broughton, Rev. Bud Sizemore, and Rev. Mickey Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be family & friends. Burial will follow in the Callebs Creek Cemetery at Hinkle. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

The family of Carlson Smith will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Home and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 4:00 p.m.
