Mr. Calvin Clay Morris age 88 of Corbin, KY formerly of Heidrick passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 in the Laurel Heights Nursing Home in London, KY. He was born in Knox Co. on August 15, 1923. Calvin was the son of the late William H. Morris and Pearl Florence Fisher Morris. On July 25, 1953 he was united in marriage with Lorene Mills and to this union four children were born. Calvin served as deacon of Victory Baptist Church and was a decorated WWII Veteran.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Carl Morris and wife Georgia, five sisters, Ruby Jackson and husband Lilbern, Edith Newman and husband Carl, Elsie Morris, Delsie Morris, and Juanita Morris and his granddaughter Audrey Simpson.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Mills Morris, his daughter Dianne Morris Simpson and husband William Arvin Simpson, his sons Dennis Clay Morris and wife Hope Moran Morris, Darrel Calvin Morris and Tony D. Morris and wife Dena Ross Morris. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Tina Pearl Simpson Slone and husband Derrick Slone, Karen Ann Simpson and fiance' Joshua King, William Kevin Simpson, Kasey Leigh Morris, Ryan Eric Morris, Kari Ann Morris, and Dustin Clay Morris. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Calvin Clay Morris will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Steely officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Mr. Morris will be laid to rest in the Morris Cemetery at Heidrick. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
