Mrs. Callie Merida age 67 of Barbourville, departed this life on Saturday, September 20, 2014 in the Knox Co. Hospital. She was born on November 15, 1946 in Clay Co., KY and was the daughter of Dave & Louise (Hubbard) Smith. Mrs. Merida was a homemaker and a member of the Free Spirit Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Dave and Louise Smith, three sisters, Thelma Swafford, Evelyn Liford and Flonnie Hale along with several half brothers and half sisters.
Left behind to mourn her passing is her husband Bill Merida and her beloved son Rodney Merida both of Barbourville, two sisters, Alma Jordan of Girdler and Chelcia Smith of Hinkle, one grandson, Daniel Jacob Merida of Ft. Myers, Florida and a host of many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Merida will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Steve Mayle officiating. Pallbearers will be nephews of Mrs. Merida. Honorary pallbearers will be, Dr. Vora and staff and the Knox Co ICU nurses and all friends & neighbors. Burial will follow in the Liford Smith Cemetery at Callebs Creek. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
