Betty Broughton

Mrs. Betty Shirley Broughton, age 61 of Flat Lick, Ky. passed away Monday, February 26, 2007 in the UK Medical Center in Lexington. She was the wife of J.M. Broughton and was the daughter of Jackie Bays and Cora (Cook) Bays born to them on January 18, 1946 in Knox Co., KY. Mrs. Broughton was a member of the Greasy Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, Matt Andrew Mills and one sister, Judy Posey.

Her husband of thirty-eight years, J.M. Broughton of Flat Lick, one son, David Hensley and wife Margaret of Barbourville, Ky., four daughters, Billie Mills and husband Andy of Stinking Creek, Mary Cox and husband Delbert of Pineville, Ky., Betty Broughton and husband Earl and Renee' Wynn and husband Ben all of Flat Lick, Ky., five brothers, Jackie Bays and wife Maggie of Heidrick, Ky. Earl Bays and wife Louise of Keavy, Robin Bays of Pineville, Tim Bays and wife Julie of Lexington and James Bays and wife Nevaline of London, KY., five sisters, Viola Bays and husband Henry of Gray, Ky., Thelma Simpson of Fourmile, Louise Hubbard and husband Woodrow of London, Ky., Abby Foley and husband George, Melva Broughton and husband Lonnie all of Barbourville, and Kathy Gray and husband Nick of Barbourville. Mrs. Broughton also leaves behind ten grandchildren, and one great grandchild along with a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Broughton will be conducted on Friday-March 2, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Luther Collett, Rev. Terry Broughton and Rev. Phillip Wynn officiating. Pallbearers will be, Lindsey Grubb, Tooter Grubb, Jr. Smith, Donnie Gray, Ben Wynn and Andy Mills. Honorary pallbearers will be the Heart and Lung Transplant Unit at UK Medical Center, Dr. Salik Jahania, Dr. Mohan , Rhonda Hobbs and Julie Lee. Burial will be in the Broughton Cemetery at Flat Lick, Ky. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
