Ms. Bernice Bargo Smith age 80 of Barbourville went home with the Lord on Tuesday - March 6, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Jack & Mary Mills, born
to them on April 23, 1931 in Knox County, KY.
On March 10th, 1949, Bernice was united in marriage to Eugene Bargo and to this union 10 children were born.
Bernice was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church. She was a devoted & loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and nurturing her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jack & Mary Mills, her husband Eugene Bargo, three sons Harold, Darrell, & David Bargo. Six brothers Homer, Leamond, Leonard, Victor, JD and Curtis Mills, one brother-in-law Curtis Grubb and two sister-in-laws Viola Mills & Ethel Mills.
Survivors include four sons, and three daughters, Randall Bargo & wife Joann of Bimble, Willa Jones & husband Joe of Girdler, Letis Bargo & wife Mae of Bimble, Linda Joyce Messer & husband Kenneth of Cannon, Faye Hammons of Barbourville, Ovia Bargo & wife Glenna of Barbourville, Ronnie Bargo & wife Saundra of Barbourville, along with 25 Grandchildren and 27 Great Grandchildren. Two sisters Esaline Grubb and Hester Mills both of Barbourville, and three sister-in-laws Jane Mills, Tressie Mills, and Myrtle Mills of Scalf. Bernice also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Bernice will be conducted on Friday, March 9th,2012 @ 1:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Broughton & Rev. Roy Vaughn officiating. Pallbears will be Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. West and the staff of the Knox County Hospital. Burial will follow in the Clark Mills Cemetery at Salt Gum. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
