Mr. Benny Sparks, age 54 of Grays, Ky., the son of the late William & Lucille (Carroll) Sparks who was born on December 22,1953 in Knox County and departed this life in the U.T. medical center on Saturday – September 6, 2008. Benny was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church; he had previously worked as a mason, and a general laborer for Hilti Construction Company. He enjoyed basketball, and nascar, just any kind of sports. He is preceded in death by his parents, William & Lucille Sparks, three brothers Billie Sparks, David Sparks, James Carson Sparks, one sister Cleo Matthews, one nephew Ricky Sparks II, two nieces Santana Michelle Warren, Leslie Sparks.


Survivors include, one daughter Crystal Sparks of Lily, Ga., five brothers Joe Sparks & wife Judy of Follansbee, West Virginia, Larry Sparks of Gray, Ky., Jack Sparks & wife Debbie of Detroit, Michigan, Roy Sparks & Eva of Walker Park Road, Ky., Ricky & wife Linda of Toronto, Ohio. Two sisters Frances Overbay & husband Dwaine of Swanpond, Ky., Alice Smith & husband Mark of Gray, Ky. three Grandchildren plus other nephews & nieces and relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday – September 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Bill Wolfe & Rev. Shane Martin officiating. Pallbearers will be Wesley Crawford, James Overbay, Roy Devin Sparks, Steven Sparks, Richie Broughton, Kelly Sparks, Joseph Sparks, and Little Billie Sparks. Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Broughton. Interment will be at the Hutchinson Cemetery. Benny was a great friend, brother, father, son. He was very kind hearted and loving to everyone that he met. He will be greatly missed.  Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00a.m. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
