Beatrice Kon

Mrs. Beatrice (Hurst) Kon age 92 of Michigan formerly of Barbourville departed this life on Monday, December 7, 2009 in the American House in Farmington Hills, Michigan. She was born on November 30, 1917 in Knox Co., KY the daughter of William and Brillar Hammons Hurst. She was a faithful follower of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ and attended several churches in the area while living in Knox Co. She also loved to quilt and sew, sing, play the organ and cook.
Preceding her in death are her parents, William "Will" Hurst and Brillar Hammons Hurst, her husband, Francis "Frank" Kon, one granddaughter, Paula Kay Boone, five brothers, Patton Hurst, Tipton Hurst, Chester Hurst, Lester Hurst and Grover "Jack" Hurst, six sisters, Evelyn Disney, Hazel Callebs, Cora Ball, Nollie Harrington, Etta Mae Hinkle and
Helen Walker.
Survivors include,
One son - Edward K. Barnes and wife Janice of Cannon, KY and one daughter - Jean “Nellie” Bingham Clark of Pompano Beach, FL, two sisters, Gladys Hurst Glinkie of Pompano Beach, Fl and
Nannie Hurst Trent of Cannon, KY, two sisters-in-law, Catherine Hurst of Fenton, MI and
Pearl Messer Hurst of Heidrick, KY, a brother-in-law, Vernon Walker of Sevierville, TN, seven grandchildren, Keith Barnes of Indian Hills, CO, Kevin Barnes and wife Karen of Farmington Hills, MI, Mitzi Barnes of Farmington Hills, MI, Shari Pearen and husband Jim of Farmington, MI, Mike Bingham and wife Susan of Hanover, IN, Mark Bingham and wife Cathy of Floyds Knobs, IN and Carla Sikorsky and husband Jon of Orlando, FL, nine great grandchildren, Trevor, Chase, Kyle, Katie, James, Nicholas, Stephanie, Christopher, andTrish,
one great, great grandchild Jesse. Mrs. Kohn also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Beatrice Kon will be conducted on Friday, December 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Medlock officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Bingham, Mark Bingham, Keith Barnes, Kevin Barnes, Chase Barnes, Jon Sikorsky, Jim Pearen and Larry Parrott. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Peaven, James Barnes, Kyle Barnes, Trevor Barnes, Chris Bingham, Bill Callebs and Troy Callebs. Mrs. Kon will be laid to rest in the Jones-Hurst Cemetery at Cannon. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
