Mr. Arthur Smith, Jr.
Mr. Arthur Smith, Jr, age 67, of Barbourville, KY, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012, in the Oak Tree Hospital in Corbin, KY. He was born in Knox County on June 23, 1945. Arthur was the son of the Late Arthur Smith, Sr., and Alta Carnes Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters-in-law, Bertie Hamilton and Marie Burnett, and one brother, J.W. Smith. He was a member of the Dewitt Baptist Church, and a member of the Moose Lodge in Piqua, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Burnett Smith, his son Brian Smith, Piqua, Ohio, two step-sons, Donnie Price, Barbourville, KY, and Joseph Price, Piqua, Ohio, one step-daughter, April Banning, Piqua, Ohio; two sisters, Mary Alice Lundy and husband E.J., Barbourville, KY, and Octavia Hobbs and husband Ralph, Ft. Thomas, KY; Brothers-in-law, Virgil Burnett and wife Sis, Piqua, OH, Lonnie Burnett and Bobby Burnett, Barbourville, KY, Larry Burnett and wife Loretta, Piqua, OH, Louis Hamilton, Barbourville, KY, Maudie Bryant, Piqua, OH, and Pauline Larger and husband Chris of Florida, and seventeen grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Arthur Smith, Jr. will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Wagner officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Mr. Smith will be laid to rest in the Carnes Cemetery at Flat Lick. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 1, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
