Mr. Arnold D. Mills age 70 of Barbourville, departed this life on Monday September 05, 2011 in the Knox Co. Hospital. He was the son of John L. Mills and Emma Mills born to them on October 25, 1940. On November 26, 1966 he united in marriage with Almedia Gray. Arnold was a member of the Horn Branch Baptist Church and was deacon there for thirty six years and was also a long time song leader there. He had been a fork lift operator at E.K. Wood products. He loved his church and family and was a huge UK Basketball fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents John and Emma Mills one brother, Vernon Mills and one sister Jeanette Mills.
Survivors include his wife Almedia Mills of Barbourville, one son Arnold Wayne Mills and wife Stefhanie of Middlesboro, two daughters Judy Ann Mills of Barbourville and Darlene Smith and husband Denny of Barbourville, one other daughter Caroline Sue Redmon and her children Lacey, Tabitha and Richard, four brothers, R.J. Mills and wife Oda Mae of Girdler, Farmer C. Mills and wife Evelyn of Boone Height, John L. Mills, Jr. and wife Linda of Girdler and Clark Mills and wife Jamie of Girdler, five sisters, Stacy Fields and husband Joseph of Girdler, Georgia Carter of Barbourville, Nadine Elliott and husband Lonnie of Barbourville, Lena Garrison and husband Wayne of Woolum and Geneda Garland of Barbourville, two grandchildren, Ryan Smith and Keshia Smith both of Barbourville. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other realtives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Arnold Mills will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Lonnie Collett, Rev. Owen Smith, Rev. Ricky Broughton and Rev. Alvin Dunn officiating. Pallbearers will be Roger Stewart, Roger Mills, Rick Mills, Billy Mills, Tommy Mills, Pat Mills, Dennis Gray and Eddie Saylor. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Horn Branch Baptist Church and the staff of the Commonwealth Cancer Center. Mr. Mills will be laid to rest in the Arnold Mills Family Cemetery with the Hampton Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 4:00 p.m
