Mr. Arlie Smith age 69 of Flat Lick, Kentucky departed this life on     Thursday, July 1, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Knox County on November 1, 1951 the son of Lloyd and Ruby Smith. He was a member of the Old Flat Lick Missionary Baptist Church and had been a logger. Arlie enjoyed the outdoors and believed in supporting conservation efforts to protect the land and animals. He was also a big supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. He loved gardening, canning, fishing, animals and especially his family and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ruby Smith, four brothers, Nevel Smith, Arville Smith, Joe Smith and Homer Smith and two sisters-in-law, Doris Smith and Nina Smith.

Survivors include his loving children, Melissa Merida and husband Lonnie of Indiana, Rev. David Smith and wife Leslie of London and Alicia Smith of Flat Lick, five grandchildren, Jeremiah Merida, Emily Merida, Autumn Smith, Morgan Smith and Daevon Smith, two great grandchildren, Sophia Rose Merida and Lillie Rae Merida, four brothers, L.C. Smith and wife Doris of Bimble, Harold Gene Smith and wife Irene of Flat Lick, Don Smith and wife Barb of Bimble and Colonel Smith of Flat Lick, five sisters, Verda Jane Hughes of Crescent City, Florida, Vivian Smith and husband John of Flat Lick, Pamela Bright of Barbourville, Freda Wilson and husband Lannie of Bimble and Reba Hensley and husband David of Bimble and his significant other Bobbie Cox of Barbourville.  He also leaves behind many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Mr. Arlie Smith will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Smith and Rev. A.Y. Mills officiating. Pallbearers will be family & friends. He will be laid to rest in the Smith Family Cemetery. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, evening July 5 th from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday afternoon July 6 th from 2:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
