Mr. Andrew Vaughn age 68 of Artemus, KY departed this life on Monday, April 22, 2013 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington. He was the husband of Eva (Hampton) Vaughn and the son of Garrett and Helen Vaughn born to them on April 6, 1945 in Woolum, KY. Mr. Vaughn was a member of the Trosper Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Garrett and Helen Vaughn, one sister, Ruby Lay and one brother, Clinton Vaughn.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Vaughn of Artemus, his daughters, Melinda Sears of Hinkle, Tammy Smith of Artemus and Angie Swartzkopf of Corbin, his son, Michael Glenn Sowders of Artemus and four sisters, Lillie Vaughn of Artemus, Betty Yeager of Bailey Switch, Ann Baker of Barbourville and Carolyn Bowling of London. Mr. Vaughn also leaves behind eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren along with a host of many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Vaughn will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jake Cople officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Lay, Shane Mattingly, Andy Hampton, Nate Hampton, Michael Sowders, Rodney Ledington, Michael Helton and Chuck Yeager. Honorary pallbearers will be nurses and staff of the ICU unit at Baptist Health in Lexington. He will be laid to rest in the Lay Cemetery at Little Brush Creek. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
