Mrs. Alma Jean Brooks age 74, of Girdler, KY passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009 at her home. She was the widow M.F. Brooks and the daughter of Walter & Effie (Garrison) Gibson born to them on October 19, 1934.
Mrs. Brooks was a member of the New Convent Churchand was a homemaker and former factory worker for Brown’s & Williams in Michigan. She enjoyed her family and grandchildren and also like painting and remodeling.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Effie Lee Gibson, her husband M.F. Brooks, and two sisters Laverne Surgener, and Marie Blair.
Left behind to mourn her passing is two daughters Kim Asher & husband Steve of Girdler, KY and Shelia Anfeldt & husband Louie of Island Lake, Illinois, two brothers Rev. Ed Wayne Gibson & wife Nora of Gray, KY, & Darrell “Gabbie” Gibson of Girdler, KY, two sisters Jamie Montgomery of Girdler, KY and Mae Dean Stewart of Indiana, five grandchildren Linsey Crowe, David Kagle, Ethen Jones, Shelby Asher, and Cansis Asher, two great grandchildren Carley Crowe and Caeden Crowe. Mrs. Brooks also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Jean Brooks will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel, on Wednesday, July 8th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Bo Miracle & Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating. Pallbearers will be Matthew Gibson, Rick Gibson, Doug Gibson, Terry Montgomery, Toby Gray, and Brandon Barton. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Gibson, Jamie Montgomery, and David Gibson. Burial will follow in the Gilbert cemetery at Girdler. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
